CARE FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Nourish your true self — mind, body, spirit.

It All Starts From Within.

With 70.2% of BIPOC women navigating competing cultural expectations from their family and friends, many are experiencing struggles of identity and belonging that can affect their well-being as a whole. Being pulled in different directions can feel disruptive and destabilizing, and why it’s even more important to find supportive ways to practice self-care.

Wholeness is about honoring all of the parts that make you who you are, so you can always show up as your truest you.

6 WAYS
to Reclaim Your Wholeness

Here are a few ways to care for your whole self — physically and mentally — without compromising who you truly are.

01

Nourish your body well.

Healthy eating is not a one-size-fits-all, despite what our wellness industry might tell you. Fueling your body with cultural foods that bring comfort and nostalgia can make a world of difference for your energy levels and mood by honoring both your culture AND body.

02

Practice Being Present

Hustle culture can take a major toll on your mental health, especially with systems of oppression that can compound racial trauma and negative thoughts. One simple way to be mindfully present is to take a centering breath before jumping into action.

03

Move Your Body

The benefits of exercise when it comes to your mental health are enormous. However, exercise isn’t about conforming your physique to mainstream body ideals — it’s about reclaiming your body through movement that feels good & celebrates you, just as you are.

04

Connect with Community.

We don’t live in a bubble, and we certainly can’t heal in one either. Taking time to practice community care — no matter how big or small the actions are — can help you feel safer, connected, and supported.

05

Seek Professional Support.

Whether it’s talk therapy, emotional support groups, or even taking medication, speaking to a culturally-responsive mental health professional can help you navigate and decide what options are right for you.

06

See Yourself In Stories.

By reading books that represent our uniquely diverse experiences, it helps you recognize your value in taking up space in this world. It inspires you to surmount similar challenges in life and achieve amazing things.
