Why
WE’RE HERE

As women, we encounter significant shifts throughout our lifetime. Moments where we feel overwhelmed and uncertain in a society that’s constantly trying to define our identities and control our livelihood.

The widening gender gap in mental health is recognized by the World Health Organization as one of the most pervasive social issues that must be addressed at the intersection of gender equality and health. But these disparities aren't just “happening” to us, they are happening at a disproportionately higher rate for a reason.

The truth is, women are not made to feel safe in their daily lives by the cultural ideals, social constructs, and power structures in place. It's having a severe impact on how we are able to have agency — within our bodies, roles & identities.

We need to dismantle the narratives embedded in our cultures and rewrite the world.

What's Weighing
ON WOMEN

We seek to bridge the gender gap of mental health through advocacy, research, and support for leaders who are helping women through critical transitions & vulnerable life moments along their womanhood journey. Our work focuses on addressing:

  • Body & beauty standards commonly touted by a wellness industry driven by perfectionism and control

  • Societal pressures on caregiving and motherhood roles that create impossible ideals & unrealistic expectations

  • Career & leadership roles that women are hindered from due to cultural narratives and biases

  • Workplaces and communities that need to better serve our diverse range of perspectives & cultural differences

A letter from our
FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

In 2019, I suffered a mental breakdown. I was caught in a minefield of panic attacks, anxiety, and depression resulting from a traumatic event that triggered a cascade of emotional timebombs that had laid dormant for decades.

There were times when I didn't know if I would make it through the day, and in that season, something was born inside my heart. I knew that if I felt this way, I wasn't alone.

And in the darkest, most painful moments of my life, SeekHer Foundation was born — a symbolic place for me to stand in solidarity with all the women who felt the weight of it all on their shoulders and came out on the other side with a renewed sense of hope.

My own healing journey paved the way for how SeekHer was built — after parsing through decades of unprocessed emotions from buried childhood & intergenerational trauma, body image struggles, and the mounting pressures of caregiving for both my kids and parents.

And while I'm immensely grateful for how my privilege granted me access to care, it became abundantly clear that there was a gap in how our mainstream culture was talking about mental health.

What was often missing in the conversation was the fact that our state of mental health isn’t isolated to an individual. It’s how we experience our identities in relation to the people we’re in community with.

And women, in particular, have long been held back by a society that constantly defines their identities through unrealistic ideals and cultural expectations that have a significant impact on our well-being.

It's why I'm here to advocate for mental health alongside our community of allies and organizations, with the hopes of amplifying this message to more women —

You are not the embodiment of your pain. You are not defined by your struggles.

So here's to our collective healing & belonging, no matter who we are. Because when we own our stories, we reclaim what's always been ours.
