I grew up on a farm in Appalachia and have always admired the many lessons that nature can teach us. I am continually inspired by mycelium and the ways that they share nutrients, redistribute resources, warn one another about potential threats, and metabolize death into new life. The Mycelia Collective will consist of three components: (1) a dynamic digital space that promotes asynchronous learning and connection; (2) in-person gatherings in the greater Boston area; and (3) virtual gatherings to expand geographic reach and accessibility for guests with diverse needs.
Audience
The intention for my chapter is to connect and uplift women/femmes living with chronic illnesses/disabilities that are often under-treated and dismissed. My hope is to create a network much like that of mycelia - one through which we can share resources and tend to our community.
Olivia Fitzpatrick
I am a heart-forward facilitator, community weaver, and clinical psychologist, deeply committed to empowering women and femmes living with chronic illnesses and disabilities that are often dismissed, underdiagnosed, and undertreated. My chapter is dedicated to women/femmes, including myself, who have felt isolated, disempowered, and lost as they navigate complex health-related experiences and systems.
