“I started rhythm in an attempt to normalize a very natural phenomenon that happens to half the population. At any given time, more than 300 million women worldwide are menstruating, so why is it still a taboo, and something that, for many people, has very little resources dedicated to it. We know periods suck, but they don’t have to. I wanted to look at it with a holistic lens, and focus on the cycle as a whole rather than just ‘that time of month.’ This means offering education and support to people at whatever stage they are at, and helping people to live with their period, not against it. Further supporting women in this space would look like increased education for young girls and people in lower socio-economic areas, menstruation sick-days at work and period products that are tax-free.”
