Cultural Care Matters

Elevating & Diversifying Women’s Leadership in Mental Health

What is Cultural Care Matters?

At SeekHer Foundation, we believe meaningful change begins by uplifting women leaders who cultivate positive change through a ripple effect that reverberates — locally and beyond. We are proud to partner with Inclusive Therapists on Cultural Care Matters — a community-driven mentorship program for mental health practitioners who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) women, femmes, and non-binary folks.

By increasing representation of mental health leaders and improving access to culturally affirming & responsive care, the program seeks to forge new paths that elevate and center BIPOC voices advocating for equal access to mental health support in our workplaces & communities.

WELLNESS IS MEANT FOR ALL.

Everyone deserves equal access to the mental health support they need. However, BIPOC women & femmes are 40-70% less likely than their white counterparts to receive a diagnosis, access mental health services, and often receive poorer quality of care. With only 14% of mental health professionals identifying as BIPOC, there is a critical gap in receiving culturally-responsive care in our communities.

As part of the SeekHer Scholars program, Cultural Care Matters was created to amplify leadership, education, and community care at the intersection of wellness and equity for mental health practitioners currently in or planning to enter into their own private practice.

If you are a therapist, social worker, or mental health practitioner who is licensed or currently fulfilling your state-required clinical hours and committed to working with marginalized communities, we can’t wait to hear from you! Here’s how the program will support our SeekHer Scholars.

Leadership Mentoring Program with SeekHer Foundation

Every emerging community leader needs guidance to build trust and confidence within themselves as they make their own way and lead with impact. Through ongoing live group support and monthly-themed programming with SeekHer’s Leadership Mentors, SeekHer Scholars will engage in conversations to take action as advocates and grow as entrepreneurial leaders through self-awareness, community-building, and informed DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) practices through our SeekHer Shift Report.

Community Support & Training Resources with Inclusive Therapists

At the heart of Cultural Care Matters is an intentional commitment to serve people of all identities and create space for dialogue around the impact of privilege, oppression, and intersectionality on mental health. We’ve partnered with Inclusive Therapists to provide one-year membership access to their community resources, including Continuing Education opportunities and a customizable directory listing to better connect with therapy clients seeking culturally affirming & responsive care.
